LinkedIn is getting into the gig economy with a new service called LinkedIn Profinder. It's a marketplace that connects freelancers with the businesses that need them.
The service currently lists 14 different disciplines to hire from. These include, Design, Writing, Accounting, Marketing, Legal, Real Estate, Software Development, IT Services, Business Consulting, Financial Services, Coaching, Insurance, Photography and Home Improvement.
That last one seems out of place since carpenters don't use the site to find work. You typically find them on places like Angies List.
Businesses fill in a short form and are promised up to 5 responses from qualified professionals. LinkedIn says all freelances and consultants are vetted as they must apply to join and be accepted.
Profinder joins a growing list of Freelance sites like Upwork. We now count at least 13 such sites in our tools database of job boards.
