How an HR Pro Writes a Cover Letter

We like to highlight interesting ways people job hunt on CareerCloud. To us it's part of the new school approach to standing out in a crowded job market. So when Chris Fields alerted us to this job seeker we felt it would make a good read. Check out this visual cover letter from Kristi Millhiser, an HR professional from Hawaii.

We asked her a few questions over email to get her take on the job hunt.

1. Did you make the infographic yourself?

Yes, I made it myself using PowerPoint.

2. What do you hope to accomplish with it?  

I want to showcase my creativity and how I can create documentation that is clear, concise yet effective.

3. Why is it important for a job seeker to stand out with a tactic like this?  

As a job seeker, it is easy to get 'lost in the crowd' or in an ATS system.  At a minimum, I want to stand out so that I earn the opportunity to have a discussion with the recruiter and explore whether there might be a good fit between the organization and me.

4. Has it gotten you any interviews so far?  

Just started but I will keep you posted!

5. Whats it like to work in Hawaii?  

Working in Hawaii is amazing.  The Aloha spirit is alive in everything we do and I am ever having a bad day, I simply walk outside, take a minute to look at the ocean and I am back!  It's nearly impossible to be in a bad mood when your life is like a vacation.
